Pointly Privacy Policy

Effective 4 November 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Pointly app for iPhone and iPad (“the app”), developed by iDev (“we”, “us”), handles your information.

The short version: Pointly keeps everything on your device. We do not collect, see or store your players, games, scores or templates. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no network connection. The only time information leaves the app is when you choose to share a result using the iOS share sheet.

Information the app stores

Pointly stores the information you enter so it can show your scoreboards and statistics:

WhatExamplesWhere it is kept
PlayersName, emoji, colour, date addedOn your device, in the app's private storage
GamesGame name, template name, participants, teams, scores, rounds, dates, scoring rulesOn your device, in the app's private storage
TemplatesTemplate name, emoji, notes, scoring direction, round target, team settingOn your device, in the app's private storage
PreferencesLight/dark/system appearance, haptics on or offOn your device, in the app's preferences

Pointly uses Apple's SwiftData framework to keep this information in the app's own container. It is not sent to us or to any third party. We have no server that receives it and no way to read it.

How the information is used

The information is used only inside the app: to show the scoreboard, calculate running totals and standings, save completed games, build player and game statistics, and fill in your templates. It is not used for profiling, advertising or any other purpose.

Sharing results

Pointly includes a Share button on active games, summaries and saved games. When you tap it, the app creates a plain-text summary of the game and standings and opens Apple's system share sheet. You choose where it goes — for example Messages, Mail, Notes or another app. We do not receive a copy, and nothing is shared unless you start it. The text includes the game name, date, round count, participants, totals and the line “Scored with Pointly”.

Device backups

If you back up your iPhone or iPad to iCloud or a computer, your Pointly data may be included in that backup along with your other app data. Backups are controlled by you and Apple; we do not have access to them. Restoring a backup may restore the Pointly data that was present when the backup was made.

Keeping and deleting information

  • Delete a game: open it from History or Statistics and choose Delete game, or use the context menu on a history row.
  • Delete a player: use the context menu on the Players tab or the delete option on the player's profile. Past games remain in history.
  • Erase all game data: open Settings and choose “Erase all games and players”. Templates are kept.
  • Delete the app: removing Pointly from your device deletes its local container, subject to any device backup you have made.

Because we never receive your information, we cannot delete it for you — but you can remove all of it on your device using the steps above.

Network, analytics and third parties

Pointly does not make network requests, does not include analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, does not show advertising, and does not use third-party services. The app is built with Apple's SwiftUI, SwiftData and Charts frameworks, and uses the system share sheet for sharing. Apple's handling of information on your device is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Tracking

Pointly does not track you across apps or websites, and does not request permission to do so. There are no advertising identifiers, no cookies and no web content inside the app.

Purchases

Pointly does not contain advertising. If the app is offered for a price or with in-app purchases, payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; we do not receive your payment details.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). Because the app does not collect information, there is nothing for a parent or guardian to review or request from us.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or hold your personal information, we have no personal data about you to access, correct or delete — everything is under your control on your device, as described above. If you have questions or wish to exercise any rights you may have under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

If the app's handling of information changes, we will update this policy, post the new version at this address and change the effective date below. Significant changes will also be described in the app's release notes.
